A TASTE OF SYRIAN COOKING with Nour Alhusaini
Sundays, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/31 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Cost: $40/session (includes food and materials)
Prepare to travel to Syria—although not by plane. Together we will be transported with the rich flavors and traditions of the cuisine of Syria. Syrians cooking ranges from everyday meals such as chicken and rice to special holiday recipes such as shish barak (stuffed dumplings in yogurt sauce) and meals flavored with za’atar, saffron, and rose flower water. Over four classes, we will cook varied meals such as lentil soup and kibbeh (deep fried breaded meatballs), tabouleh (a green salad with grains), baba ghanouj (an eggplant dish), savory pies filled with cheese and thyme, mabrushs (jam-filled pastry), and the dessert dish of halawat alsamid. Come explore this exciting and delicious cuisine with a native of Syria and a new immigrant to the U.S—and bring a take-home container for leftovers!
If you need childcare following the Religious School session from noon to 1:00 p.m., email Mike Fishbein as soon as possible at email@example.com.
